Recent Position of Freelancing in Pakistan
Recent Position of Freelancing in Pakistan
The IT industry has
now been considered to be a major source of revenue in Pakistan but at the same
time the people associated with this industry; especially, freelancers have
been facing some problems for a long time which have now increased. According
to the review, 5,000 IT companies in Pakistan are registered with the Pakistan
Securities and Exchange Commission. At present, the number of broadband
subscribers in Pakistan is 9.5 Crore, the subscribers of mobile phone companies
have reached 17.8 Crore and the subscribers of 3G / Forge have reached 9.3 Crore.
According to the
BBC report published in 2020, Pakistan is the fourth largest country in the
world in terms of freelancers, where their number is increasing, and during the
year 20-2019, 150 million USD in foreign exchange came to Pakistan through
freelancers. Nowadays, the freelancing sector is a major source of foreign
exchange for Pakistan. In just a few months, more than 20 Crore PKR has come in
while the entire IT industry is around 80 Crore PKR.
Since
freelancing is a sector connected to the Internet, people are working more in
areas of Pakistan where the speed of the Internet is faster. At present young
people from Karachi, Lahore, Multan, Islamabad, Faisalabad, Peshawar and
Rawalpindi are doing freelancing work. In other parts of Pakistan like
Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir, the youth also have the ability in this regard
but due to low internet speed, they cannot do freelancing work.
In conclusion, I
must say that freelancers are hardworking people who are not tax evaders, but
believe in their hard work and are looking for new places. If these young
people are performing such feats without any government patronage, they will be
able to see their colors after a little applause and help.
